Shush Ringer restorer project

I am been wanting to make a tasker project to revive the functionality of shush ringer restorer which met its fate in android... 8 or 9 or something like that when google changed app permissions. Our amazing admin/ developer  joaomgcd created a tasker project which replicates the functionality of shush very well but it's missing one small bit. when the volume restores, its always at 1. I have looked at the code and cannot figure out what needs to happen to fix this... maybe it's missing a prompt and extra variable to store what the volume should be when it's restored. Here is the link to his project if anyone can take a crack that would be greatly appreciated. I used this app TONS and it just doesn't work anymore on newer devices.

I'm also seeing inconsistent behavior where sometimes it restores to 1 other times it restores to a random volume number.

Is Tasker enabled under Accessibility?  if not try it that way..... seems like some phones need that for volume media action....

It's on but like I said. the results are inconsistent. sometimes I will use the rocker to turn the volume all the way down and when it restores it to 1 or 2 when it was at full to start. Sometimes it works and restores it to full.

I'm a little confused here, but that's not new :-P  Your rocker button will turn your RINGER volume down?  because what I think is going on is that the Media volume is getting changed which may make the inconsistent behavior.  For Media volume you need to use VOLM  .   I think some older phones had these volumes separated, but now I think they both go down together.  

perhaps using both VOLR & VOLM will control this better?

yes. the volume rocker controls the ringer volume. there's a toggle to make it control media but that's disabled.

When you first posted this I built the same profile and started testing it and was getting the same inconsistent results. I got busy with other things and forgot about it.  I would start by checking the run log to see how the profile is triggering.  I think it has to do with task collisions.  I would try setting the task collision to 'abort existing task'.   If I get some free time I will take another look..

Okay, I had a chance to look at this. Turns out it is not a collision issue. so if you have changed the collision properties then you want to set them back to the default setting of 'abort new task'.

The issue comes from either using the slider to select the volume or your volume rocker.  As you are sliding the slider or operating the rocker it is actually setting the volume in small increments. So if there's any kind of hesitation or pause while operating the rocker or the slider You will lose your actual old volume setting that you wanted to restore too.  A simple 2 second wait added as the first action in the task linked to the Monitor Ringer Volume profile seems to smooth things out just fine.

Please read or watch some of the tasker tutorials at menu -> info -> Guides.  If you are going to be using tasker you really need to understand the basics.

In the tasker main UI

- tap the Profiles tab

- tap the 'Monitor Ringer Volume' profile name to expand it.

- tap the linked task (on right just under profile name)

- long press the the first action

- tap three dot menu

- tap three dot menu -> insert action-> Task -> Wait

- set seconds to 2

-tap back button twice

- tap check mark in upper right to save data

- back all the way out of tasker with back button.
