Im using an android head unit in my car - the head unit does not have a sim so no 4g.

I connect my phone to the head unit with bluetooth. My phone reports the head unit is connected for media and calls and contacting sharing is on.

I have google assistant available on the headset and this works if i use my phone as a hotspot.

I would like to ask my head unit to "call Sharon" and have it place the call via Bluetooth.
Alternatively, have the requested routed to my phone's voice assistant....
.... Or have tasker place a bluetooth call
.... Orha e tasker trigger the media button event (since the head unit is acting as a headset)...

Or.... Some other workaround...

Does anyone have any ideas as this is causing me sleepless nights.

Id be really thankful for your ideas.

Have you installed AutoVoice so Tasker can react to voice commands yet?

Hi Logan thanks for your reply.

I'm trying to investigate a full solution from end to end and I know I will need autovoice.

I'll need tasker on the head unit to intercept the command but after that things become difficult.
Can tasker take that voice request and pass it to another device (which could also be running tasker+autovoice)?
If not, can tasker "press" the bluetooth call button to initiate a google voice search on my connected phone?

I know I'll need autovoice but the rest isnt obvious

Thanks for your help,

Rob

AutoInput can simulate button clicks. For communication between devices you can most likely make use of Join, but i've never worked with that so well need someone else on the forum with more expertise to assist with that.

Did you find a solution to this? I've just started using an Android head unit and I am faced with the same issue.
I can't find a way to get google assistant to make calls through the head unit's bluetooth calling application.
