I like to backup my Tasker Data to SD card. When I do so, it says "couldn't backup data to SD card"  ..  what could be the cause?

I tried this for days thinking it was a folder permissions issue. Plobby more of an Android restriction.

I found a very useful app called Folder Sync that can do a one way sync of your entire Tasker folder. Works with cloud or local storage. I have mine set up to back up my Tasker folder to my G drive every night. If you have Tasker set to do automatic backups (with long history) then you are covered. Backup is made every time you close Tasker and then Folder Sync will save it off device.

Despite the name, external SD card is not supported by the backup.

You would have to backup to internal storage then copy unfortunately.

Or you can rig a profile which detects a change to your backup file and then
copies it to external SD (the Copy File action does support external SD).

Thanks,

So, if all I do is set it up to back up to the internal memory, then loose my phone, I would not be able to easily restore my Tasker data on the new phone?  Could there not be an easier way to do this, as in the date being uploaded to the cloud by signing into a Tasker account. By now Tasker is the only app that cannot do this, all my other apps restore data automatically in case of a loss of the phone.

If this can not be done, then what is the easiest way to save my Tasker profiles in an automatic way, in case a phone gets lost or damaged?

No, Tasker does not offer a account service.

Ahh, But most likely Tasker is the only app that will be let you build your own back up system and tweak it any way you would like... :)

Just as Pent described..

"Or you can rig a profile which detects a change to your backup file"
Use a context -> event  -> File -> File modified:
 /storage/emulated/0/Tasker/configs/auto/

You will need a plug in to sync to the cloud. "Drivetask" will sync to Google Drive.

Although I would recommend just a simple time context and back up you entire Tasker folder to the cloud every night (while device is idle and charging). This will get all your auto back ups and it will also get any profiles, tasks, scenes that you have exported to the sd.

or do both, as I said Tasker will allow you to customize your back up procedure so it is far better then any type of auto back up to a account.

Folder Sync does what you want to do.
