OK, I can turn on an app with tasker, but I can't close one.

You can if your device is rooted, otherwise you are right.

Thanks Bob.

I ticked "use root". And Tasker was granted Superuser, the app was closed, but then opened again...

We need more detail as to what you are trying to do. What app? How was it launched? etc.

the app is uTorrent, I tried both launch it manually and using Tasker, but it can not be killed by Tasker, it comes back straight away after getting killed.

May be this could be of help. I haven't tried it, but by the description, it can meet your needs.

Tasker's Kill app action can't kill utorrent, but secure settings plugin's Package Option - Force stop app will kill it. Secure Settings is, in my opinion, a must have plugin for Tasker.

That feature will cost me another one $2.

I downloaded the secure settings app and paid for the pro features, but I can't find the force close app option you mentioned.

Add An action

plugin/secure settings/package options

Use the pen icon to select the app you want to kill

In the spinner set it to force stop.

I agree secure settings is a must have plugin, pretty much everything Google have stopped us doing we can now do it with this plugin.

Go to tasker task screen and create a new task then to get to secure settings go to Plugin category > Plugin > Secure Settings > configuration (tap the pencil icon) > scroll to the Root ACTIONS section and find Package Options then select Force Stop App from the pull down.

Also secure settings must be given root access. I believe you do that by running secure settings app.

My mistake.

Use the ? Icon to select the app, see screenshot.

BTW you may want to install the secure settings helper aswell its free and allows you to do even more things.

I am in Secure Settings, but I can not find the Plugin category.

I see four tabs, info, options, helper and combat apps only.

Add the action in Tasker (in the plugin category).

Do you mean Help Alternative as I'm running 4.1+

For some reason, my phone is unable to revert permission for Secure Settings, therefore unable to install Help Alternative.

What version of secure settings are you using? If you have the option to use the helper alternative, which I thought was only in the current beta cycle, you don't need to use the helper apk. If you don't have the helper alternative option, then in order to install the helper apk you must have root and busybox must be correctly installed.
