Hey,
I am trying to learn Tasker, but I don't use it enough to let
things really stick. I know I read somewhere what would help me with
this, but I can't find it... Anywho, I've set up a profile called "No
Internet" to turn off my mobile internet connection any time apps that
are ad-supported are started. It works great, and now those angry
birds can be happy about not sharing a screen with advertisements! I
forgot about WiFi, though. My phone is always connected to the Mobile
Network, and I always want it to be when these apps aren't running. So
using 'Mobile Data Off' and 'Mobile Data On' works great. On the other
hand, I scarcely use WiFi, so it is almost always off. If I try the
same task settings for WiFi, I have issues.
I don't want Tasker turning on WiFi when I close the ad-supported
app (App X from now on) if WiFi wasn't on to begin with. If I have
WiFi on when I start App X, I want it turning off WiFi for as long as
App X is running. Then, when App X is closed, I want WiFi turned back
on. BUT, If WiFi is off when App X is started, I don't want it to turn
on WiFi when I close App X. I've messed around with the variables and
the %WIFI 'matches,' 'equals,' 'greater than,' and alike. I'm sure
that's how I do it, but I don't know what value to put in the 'IF'
variable boxes and I don't know which Math operation.
Forgive the length of this post, but I really appreciate the
help. By the way.... Android 2.2 on the Verizon Droid Incredible (non-
rooted).

WiFi is a setting, it will revert when the profile deactivates.
Tasker does this for you.

Context: Load App
Task: Wifi Off

It's thát simple.

Hi,

As far as I know, Tasker does restore settings, which means the
following:

- if Wifi was turned on before you launch your app, then it will be
turned on again as soon as the Tasker profile becomes inactive, eg. as
soon as you close the app
- if Wifi was off, then it gets disabled after profile becomes
inactive

So you could just include an additional entry in your mobile data task
which sets Wifi to off, I suppose this should accomplish what you
wanted.

Regards,
