I'd like to use an older version of tasker & tasker app factory to make apps for SDKs lower than ICS & JB. These SDKs aren't an option on the last 2 tasker updates. I'm aware of this page..

http://tasker.dinglisch.net/releases/

..but when I try to install an older version, it says that it didn't update. Do I need to uninstall tasker completely first?

i expect you will have to uninstall and wipe data before installing an old version. I also expect your backups won't work correctly with older versions.

Last stable - Tasker.1.3.3u2.apk
Last beta - Tasker.1.3.4b2.apk (never released 1.3.4)
(remember to select the one with "m" at the end if you originally purchased from the android market.)

After these tasker only supports android 4.0+

Thank you RBX..

I will take note of the "m" when downloading.
I recall that its only been a few market updates of tasker, prior to the most current, that also had the 1.6+ available to create APKs with app factory.. I was running a rooted ICS rom on a sprint E4GT

It worked as you said, but it was actually version 4.0b9m & I was able to restore everything without deleting all data. This version allows for APKs to be made for 1.6 through 4.1 :)

If that version alows you to export apps for preICS android, then its only because Pent was still implimenting certain features/APIs at that point in the beta stage. Although I find it very suprising that you can export for preICS at all with that build.

Ultimatley thats a beta build for the new 4.0+ Tasker, and so it will have bugs and it's possible not all features will export correctly for you for preICS apps. I'd keep an eye out for discrepencies in your exported apps.

If I remember correctly there were 20+ beta versions so there will likley be many bugs with the version you installed

Also, how did you manage to find the corisponding "App Factory" to go with Beta9?

I found that app factory 4.0b17 works with tasker 4.0b9 through trial & error prompt pop ups while attempting to create a previous application.

My reason for backsliding to an earlier version can be illustrated by the android OS pie chart found here..

http://developer.android.com/about/dashboards/index.html

33% of android users are still running gingerbread! My intent is to make a few apps with the ability to perform simple tasks, such as set up an email, call or text to a predefined address or phone number or open an existing website. My phone is rooted & titanium backup allows for a quick transition from this beta version back to the newest tasker & app factory versions. This in no way implies that this beta version is better. It just serves a specific purpose.. the ability to make a simple app for the 1/3rd of android users still not on ICS or JB.

Cheers,
Khan8
