Tasker and Raspberry Pi projects

I am interested in developing a few projects that would benefit from a Tasker-Pi relationship.  One such project is a relay board controlled by a Pi.  The relay would emulate the pushing of a button on a garage door remote.  I want to have a Tasker command (AutoRemote or Join) control this action.

One such scenario:
Profile:  In my car (Tasker %Mode set to "Car"), ENTERING a 3km radius of home (using GPS and %LOC), device orientation Vertical (it always is while driving), and Charging (it always is while driving).  And maybe I would add a time window just for one more safeguard.
Action:  Send a command to the Pi to close a relay for 3 seconds then reopen, which would operate the garage door opener remote.

Or a voice command could initiate the garage door with a "secret" phrase and AutoVoice (or Google Assistant/Alexa/Cortana).  "Open Says Me!"

Another function of this would be to remotely control the garage door if I forgot to close it when I left (confirmed by webcam/security cam in garage), or being able to open the door for a neighbor so he could borrow a tool.

Has anyone here actually completed anything like this?

This probably won't help you but I do the same thing with a Z-Wave garage door controller using Tasker and the SharpTools plug-in. When I get close to my house, it opens the garage door for me automatically. It also unlocks the kitchen door and turns off the SimpliSafe alarm. My Z-Wave and other devices are connected to a Samsung hub. Good luck with your attempts.

I have a Samsung hub… this looks like a possibility!

Quick search on that zwave garage door controller looks like $100.

I could never get that site to open on any of my devices.

My goal was to find a way to operate a switch that would emulate a button press.  Basically, all I needed was a momentarily conducting state.  I got that to work (and more).

I use one of these (https://amzn.to/2KJBlvE) to control power, using several methods (GAssistant, Echo/Alexa, Tasker/IFTTT).  My favorite is "Hey Google, ask AutoVoice to operate the garage door" and it runs a task that turns this on for a few seconds, then turns it back off.  This Sonoff device controls an old phone charger that provides 5VDC to...

One of these (https://bit.ly/2MGvpUM) and it closes the contacts for the duration in the above mentioned task and then reopens.  The relay's output is wired in parallel to the contacts of a garage door remote.  This is the button push I have been trying to do.

And just because Tasker is awesome, I have the app Ivideon automatically open and select my garage's webcam so I can see the garage door open or close.

The last step is to have the second relay wired to control a second phone charger that is powering a retired phone.  The relay's operation would interrupt charging power, which we all know where we are going here...that context would initiate an AutoRemote notification on one of many possible phones/tablets.  That change of charging state would be another confirmation that the relay action happened and the garage door got its command.

It all happens because Joao figured out a workaround for Tasker to control the Sonoff device.  Well done, good sir, and thank you.

I am going to save it as a word doc and share the link here. Reddit is saying it has inadequate photos (it has plenty).

See if you can follow this… I had to edit this doc on my phone, getting the photos from my laptop 31 miles away (thanks Join!).

Phase two is adding a "retired" phone to the contraption. The other relay will interrupt the charging of this phone, the exit task of that charging profile will send me phone an AutoRemote Notification advising me of the changed states. The only things that would cause the interruption would be a power loss or the wifi operation of the contraption. The phone would then tell the Sonoff to turn off, which would then restore charging power.

This retired phone has a bad display (no screen, no touch) and can be left in a display on state for using OK google commands to operate the door. (Said phone has TeamViewer installed so I can access it remotely and "see" it)

Phase 2 is complete.  This is awesome.   Check the word doc for final config.
