Connect to nearest bluetooth speaker

I have a few bluetooth speakers in my house, is it possible to get Tasker to connect to the closest one when I'm moving about that house?

Try with a Bluetootth Near State.

The problem is that there's no way to say how near the speaker should be or even to tell Tasker which speaker to connect to. I can only then bluetooth on or off.

You are correct in that I don't think you can tell the strength or proximity of a particular bluetooth device.  You could use either an NFC tag or one of the bluetooth buttons that were discussed in this forum and place near the entrance to the room.  Then you can use bluetooth autoconnect to connect to a specific speaker.
