I need to have a context that knows when my phone is creating a wifi hotspot. I can toggle the hotspot from my android tablet, which is awesome, but I need to run a couple of tasks on my phone when this occurs.

Also, can you have a context when widgets are clicked? Like when I click the wifi hotspot widget, it simply turns on the hotspot. Even though I have a tasker task triggered by the context of the VZW mobile hotspot app, using the vzw toggle widget does not activate tasker like opening the app does.

A relevant variable is on the todo list. If you used Tasker to toggle
the hotspot you could run the other tasks at the same time however.

Sorry, no, you can only respond to clicks on a Tasker widget.

Yes, the app context only works when the app is in the foreground.

many thanks.

If you used Tasker to toggle

yes, this does not actually start creating the hotspot though.

the option of having tasker know when a hotspot is being created would be awesome though, I hope that comes in a future release.

awesome, awesome app.

That depends more on VZW software than Tasker, I believe :)

As for this one: this is a long shot, but if you have Launcher Pro or Minimalistic Text, I think they both list all available activities exposed by apps installed in the phone. If you're lucky, it may happen that the hotspot app has an activity that is toggled by the widget and if you're even more lucky - starting that activity by you will give you the same result as tapping the hotspot widget.
