I have no idea if it is possible, but I would love to be able to "monitor" the URLs used in chrome with Tasker and change it on the fly...

If the URL/link in chrome is like :

change it to

On a PC with Chrome, I have an extension that enables me to do that, but on Chrome/Android, I can't use it and need another solution :(

I won't name it, but in the stupid country I live in, Wikipedia has been blocked (cuz no one is allowed to criticize our great leader...)

Anyway, so each time I try yo get on any Wikipedia link, I end up on a "blocked" page...

Adding a "0" (zero) in front of wikipedia solves the problem (thanks to a proxy), but you have to wait until the page loads, then put the 0, then wait for the redirect...

So what I'd like to do would simply look for the string "wikipedia" in the URL of a page and replace it with "0wikipedia"...

Would tasker be able to do that ?

Unfortunately Tasker also can't do that automatically, sorry!

How about not automatically but manually? Is there any way to track the IP or URL?

Manually, it's no problem, just add a zero before Wikipedia in the URL... But it's a pain to do it every time :(

You can sort of do it via AutoInput.

The part that won't work is Tasker cannot monitor the Chrome URL for you BUT when you are on a wiki page, you can activate a task, e.g. via a hardware button or via a custom notification, to get the URL, rename it and then paste it back to the search bar using AutoInput.

I'll try that and see what's going on...

I have a dumb "Bixby" button that is no  use to me...

Thanks for the idea !

When you enter/press "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tasker_(application)" into Chrome, when this page is blocked, does this link in the search bar stay the same? Or do you actually get directed to another URL?

No I end up with the same URL...
Everyone else sees the page, but in Turkey, you just wait 30 seconds for the page to load then have this :

This site can’t be reached

www.wikipedia.org/XYZ’s server IP address could not be found.

ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED

Even when using Google's DNSs instead of the provider's who's doing the checking and displaying of the error page :(

I see. If that is the case, my suggestion should work.
