Mostly bugfixes and improvements/extensions to functionality
introduced in 1.2.

Person who can crash the Run Log viewer the most ways wins a prize

Pent

p.s. the prize is a more stable Run Log viewer :-)

Is it not beyond doubt ?

Thanks, will put a new one out soon.

I put a routine in to find orphan tasks from scene editing, apparently
you had some and I didn't :-)

so true :)

I think I messed around more with the 1.2 beta's than you :)
I knew there were some leftovers I couldn't reach, hope the function will clean it up for me.

brandall, go for gold :)

Don't like the sound of that :-)

Anyway, b2 is out, should fix the crash when fixing orphans after
coming back to main screen from scene edit.

Some people may get a crash from pressing menu with this beta,
depending on your Android version,
will look at it.

Starting to get sick of the phrase 'depending on your Android
version'.

Beta not recognising my Sensation ICS as rooted?

Don't think I changed anything there. Reboot / reinstall ?

Unistalled and reinstalled repeatedly to confirm. Rebooted each time.
If I revert to the market version I can check use root in the run
shell action. If I update, it says my device doesn't appear to be
rooted. I've uninstalled completely and installed again with the same
result...

Want a log!?

Just tested and the same on Flyer honeycomb.

OK. Could you reboot and send me an SD log after that ?

Tested with repeated installs and reboots of 1.2.1b2 here and the same result - no Root found on my ICS Desire.

I'll release a fix for this (Menu button) when I have a chance to look
at the root problem.

b3 up, two changes:

- fix for Menu crash on some devices
- fix for shell execution (and therefore root detection)

Thanks for your patience!

Nice to see Menu back! :-)

Small problem: when clicking on a task or action in the Run Log, mostly I get a toast "Error: the specified task is unknown."

This seems to be when the indicated ID contains a colon or elipsis...

I like the idea of going to a Task/Profile editor from the run log. Much better than searching all my tabs to find the appropriate entry!

Works well for Russian (Cyrillic) part of code page. Thanks a lot!

A colon in the ID field ? Probably it's from an old version of the Run
Log, try
clearing history (Menu) ?

It's too difficult to scroll very long Run Log. Even with collapsed Actions and Tasks. It would be nice to have an transparent scrolling area without items' click - too much mistaken taps happens while scroll to begin. It doesn't recognize "Home" - "End" buttons on soft keyboard, also.
Another nice feature - filter by time.

For the action Element Value, the input type seems to be set to numeric only.  The only way I can enter in %par2 is using the variable button (and lucky enough having %par2 in the list).

The radius in the Scene->Add Geo Marker action have same problem. Copy-Paste with tricks helps.

small point... if I use Variable Set Append and the Var isn't set, the result is prefixed by null
so if I have a var %list and I do a loop and use append to set this var with numbers 1, 2 & 3 it will result in null123
this can be easily bypassed with If but it would make more sense if Tasker would do the check upon append itself I think..

also, if I edit Scene Elements and check the result with the magnifying glass on the result differs a bit from when the glass is off
text that first fits in a textbox suddenly doesn't anymore
will send 2 screenshots later

is it possible to set the size of the text in a Scene Element in a Task, can't seem to find it..
if not, is it hard to add?
It would be great to have the ability to create a zoom in and zoom out button

Thanks.

I added some builtin padding to stop the text touching sides and
bottom,
I think it looks better but perhaps I'll reduce it since it's going to
annoy a lot
of people having to resize I guess.

> is it possible to set the size of the text in a Scene Element in a Task,

I was surprised to find it wasn't. Then I was also surprised that it
wasn't
on the todo list either. I put it on.

Moving country at the moment, so a bit busy in the real world.

Pent, a few quick questions/suggestions/feedback...

1) what's changed from b4 to b5?

2) Would you consider adding an update auto-check feature for the
beta? Kind of like how you can be on the "beta channel" for chrome.
I'm always trying to run the very latest but one has to remember to
check the website for new beta versions.

3) for the 1000th time tasker amazed me yet again tonight with its
power and depth. I figured out a way to pull off a pretty awesome
"task" (and scene...). Speaking of scenes, they really have added an
incredible new dimension to an already incredible tool.

4) what's it like creating an ultra high level programming language
for the unwashed masses? What's coming in 3.0, at this rate it's going
to compile tasks/profiles/scenes into apks for us?

Yes.

Good, I was worried it was too much mission creep.

Tiring after a year or two :-)

At some point I want to make that possible. For the near future
I want to work on often-requested and long-promised small-stuff.

YAY, small stuff!!
this, in combination with the big features you added lately, will add a whole new set of combinations :)

Fits in with my moving plans too, it's hard to focus on big stuff in
bits
and pieces.

Will adding a third state condition be one of those "small" things? I
know there are ways to work around with just two states but having a
third would keep some things cleaner/easier. Also, any plans for being
able to zip directories, not just files?

It's on the 'Plans' page so there must be a plan :-)

does filtering contact groups fall under small things?
I often add/remove contacts from groups and this feature would allow for example for easy filtering of work/private during holidays etc..
