What do you mean it doesn't save? It doesn't save the tasker task to the nfc tag?

Sounds more like an NFC Task Launcher issue than a Tasker issue. Probably not setting up /saving the task correctly w/NFC Task Launcher.

I prefer to use the plug in Tasker URL Launcher which allows you to directly launch Tasker tasks by writing a URL to the tag. But NFC Task Launcher works too. Just can't tell from your message what you're doing wrong.

Hi folks. New to Tasker, but I've got a basic handle on it (I think).

But, I just got some NFC tags. Which I'm also new to. I downloaded NFC Task Launcher, I can see my Tasker tasks within NFC-TL when I add a new tag, but when I select the task it doesn't save.  I did a search, can't find anything to help me figure out what i'm doing wrong.

Thanks in advance for any help. Of course, now that i've decloaked and posted this, I'll bet I'll figure it out within minutes.

Sorry, didn't realize google groups doesn't pop up a notification, I could have sworn it did.

Problem identified, this is an NFC Task Launcher bug. They were able to recreate it. Basically, when you select a Tasker task from within NFC Task Launcher, it doesn't save it.  Works fine on my Nexus 7, doesn't work on my HTC One X.

You should definitely give Tasker URL Launcher a try. I swear by it.

I'm using the locale NFC plugin for mine, works great.

FYI This all works in the latest version of NFC Task Launcher.

Hollywoodfrodo, I'll look at Tasker URL Launcher, I need an NFC plug-in, will look into that as per Wes Stacey's advice. I'm new to all this, so I may be overcomplicating things by using multiple programs.

Currently i use the Locale NFC Plugin for the tasker integration and do everything i need to in tasker.

I only use NFC task Launcher for formatting and programming the tags. I don't use it to actually launch anything.

I'm trying to use Locale and have it working just fine for detecting it and triggering the profile, but when i move it away it doesn't recognize the lack of proximity. How do you detect that you moved the phone away from the tag and disable the profile?

That's actually a bug in the plugin. It does eventually reset the state after it's no longer in contact with the tag, but I've taken a few steps to work around it. I use it to set a variable, which is then used in combination with other states to activate another profile. In that second profile, I actually disable the first one so it doesn't keep triggering. I re-enable it in the exit task as well as clear the variable. Since I use multiple states to trigger the profile, in my case a power state, as soon as one of the other states goes false, then entire profile exits, allowing me to reset things back to be used the next time. In your case, you could possibly use a second tag, or use the first tag as a toggle. Regardless, you probably will need to work around the fact that the state condition does not change.

I've been in contact with the developer about this, and he acknowledges it, but doesn't seem interested in changing it.

ouch okay, so in that case it makes this a basically useless plugin. I suppose a 1 star rating is appropriate in this case since i've no desire to do all that.

Oh no, it's not useless at all. It works quite well at what it does. Once you understand its quirks, you can use it very effectively.

Actually NFC isn't' meant to be used as a constant thing. The tags is meant to be used as a one time quick scan, not as a proximity sensor, you will basically have to scan constantly and that would drain the battery on your phone VERY quickly. You'd be better off using the magnetic field sensor for a proximity sensor.
