Is there program that lets me have a long text complication on Android Wear where I set the text through Tasker? It seems like an obvious thing, but for all the searching I've tried I can't seem to find anything like it.

Can you provide more detail? Auto Wear is able to send notifications and commands to the watch. It's a plugin for Tasker. I use it to send notifications to the watch that contain the text of emails and sms messages. I also use it to check if the watch is charging or not, when I get in the car, so I don't forget it. I'm not sure that either of these is what you want, though. I thought complications were the little apps that can be accessed by pressing on a mini display on the watch face. I'm confused by your use of that term.

That is exactly what I meant by the term.

Complications are the small pieces of information that can be added to a watchface in Android Wear 2. It's essentially an API that lets apps on the watch publish information in a way that the watchface can then decide how to render. So, with any watchface that supports complications, I can add one that always displays my next appointment, or the number of steps I've taken today, or the weather, or whatever. Then it all displays as though it were part of the watchface.

But all of the of the complications I can find tend to do a particular thing. So I got to thinking, what I really want is to be able to add one that just displays whatever text I most recently sent from Tasker. Then throughout the day I can make Tasker send whatever is most appropriate to what's going on (assuming I can get that info into Tasker in the first place, but I've gotten pretty good at that).

It seems like a natural fit for Auto Wear, but that doesn't support the complications API yet (or really anything Wear 2 related).

Got it. I like that idea. It allows for a much more personalized watch face. I haven't seen this anywhere, either. Perhaps Joao will see this and add it to Auto Wear. He does visit this forum. Or perhaps you could post something in the AutoApps Google+ forum.

I take it that you've heard of Watchmaker? If you can find a watch face you like you can display tasker variables in the face and also trigger tasks from the watch face.

I've build a few tasker apps that use watchmaker to display the information. My most successful app retrieves live football scores and news and then displays the scores on the watch face.

I'm not promoting the app but here is the link to show you what can be done with tasker and watchmaker.

Just to close the loop (DEAR PEOPLE FROM THE FUTURE), AutoWear now supports complications, and it is wonderful.
