Can tasker recognize "Call connected" instead of just call state?

If it's an incoming call, it's connected when the phone offhook event (Event -> Phone -> Phone Offhook) occurs.  For outgoing calls, this doesn't work because the phone is off the hook while it's ringing.

That's alright. It at least fixes the minute portion of incoming calls for me on my minute tracker. Now I just need to find the best solution for outgoing. Right now I just make it wait a few seconds before starting count for most accurate.

Thanks for help so far guys. This forum is great.

I could be wrong but I think there are variables for either call time or call start/stop time.

There are. But for outgoing it starts before the call actually connects. :(

Gotcha. You must be on a call plan that doesn't have too many minutes. My plan doesn't have a shitload of minutes but mobile to mobile is free. All we ever call really so it doesn't much matter.

Actually, I just dug into this and there's a state for off-hook. While the phone is ringing, the state is ringing and return to idle when done. Create three profiles and set a variable (I am using %myPhone) to the current state. Log the time it changes to off-hook and when it returns to idle. That will give you exact time you're looking for. The three profiles you'll create monitor the phone idle, phone ringing and phone offhook state respectively.
