Hi, I'm new to Tasker but I'm having a blast making tasks to creatively pester my friends via text message.  Don't blame me- they started it.  Really I only got Tasker in retaliation.

I would really like to tell Tasker to send an image via SMS.  Preferably, I'd like to send an image from a Google Image search, but even just being able to send an image from my personal gallery would be a great start.

Apparently, you can get Tasker to attach images, as in this example below, but I don't see how.

Thanks for any help!

You will have to be more specific about where you are having a problem. The Action "Compose MMS" has a parameter for the attachment. You can either select the picture from your gallery (the magnifying glass) or use a variable (the little tag) that contains the path\filename of the image. The example uses %FOTO which contains the filename of the last camera image.

Thanks!  That is a good start, but I don't see an option for "Send MMS"- only "Compose MMS".  I would really like it to autosend the MMS.  Is it possible to do that?

Hmm... OK, I'm taking the silence to mean "no, Tasker can't auto-send an image."  I was unable to find anything else searching either.  Is there another app that I can utilize in conjunction with Tasker to do that?

I don't know how to do it either. But, depending on where you end up after the compose MMS, (for example are you in the default text messaging app?) you might be able to use AutoInput to click the send button.

Thanks, again, that sent me down a trail but again I got stuck.
I do use the default app for texting.  I did not see an option for hitting the "send" button under "Input" or anywhere else- and if I did, I would still have to input a phone number since there isn't an option for that in "Compose MMS".  What I did find was this link on how to fake touch input in Tasker.  It made logical sense to me, but nothing is happening.
What I have now is

1. Compose MMS (with attachment)
2. Run Shell Command: input tap 53 296 (this should put me in the correct location to input a phone number)
3. Type  Text: {my phone number} Repeat times: 1
4. Run shell Command: input tap 988 822 (this is the send button)

What am I missing?  Thanks.

Is use root checked for the shell command?

Yes, it's checked.

OK, I didn't solve that problem but I *did* find a workaround.  Basically I can send MMSes as email by doing this:

1.  Since Tasker apparently won't autosend email, I had to download the app Email Me Pro, which will work in conjunction with Tasker to autosend emails.

2.  I used Freecarrierlookup here: http://www.freecarrierlookup.com/ That gives me the cell provider of my friends and can tell me what email address to use- something like (number)@mms.att.net or whatever.

So now I can send an mms of a picture in my gallery.  Next project is to figure out how to send *a picture from an automated Google images search*.  Hilarity will ensue.  Back to the drawing board.
