If I long press my homescreen to add something then choose shortcuts, I can choose Task Cut, then pick a task and it'll create a shortcut to launch that task.

What I'm wondering is what is the "code" or "link" or "command line" that tells Android to use the app Tasker and execute the specified task.

Thanks,
Eric

Just to clarify here, I guess what I'm looking for is the "activity" that would call a task to execute.  I'm assuming that when you use the shortcut method, you're simply creating an activity that executes an action by Tasker, in this case a Task.

The reason I'm looking for this info is I'm trying to find a creative way to trigger a task from an NFC Tag without using a 3rd party app or plug-in.

Thanks for any input...

Are you looking for something like an intent? Or a shell command? I'm pretty sure there's a shell command that you can run, but I don't recall it at the moment. Probably could find it with a search.

Yeah, something like that... ;-)  I think I was hoping it was much simpler than it actually is.  My goal was to find something I could write directly to a nfc tag that would then trigger a tasker task.  I was using Tasker URL Launcher, but after the recent JB update to the S3, this opens up a "New Tag Collected" screen and I have to select something to then run the task which defeats the point of using an nfc tag.

Since you can write a URI to a tag, I figured there's gotta be a simple android activity/intent that I could write to a tag to trigger a saved task in Tasker... but maybe I'm wrong and it would require a little more programming than that?

Actually go to the Settings > Apps > Tags and you can disable that app.

Then it should work the same way it was before the update. I had the same issue on my Galaxy Nexus, when i started using NFC tags.

Wes - thanks! I was looking for something like that but didn't notice the new "tags" app. I don't get what purpose that app serves anyway.

Thanks again.

Yeah i know another VERY annoying thing i've found is that when you scan an NFC tag and have multiple app that can handle it brings up the list of app you can use, unfortunately unlike normal there is no option to select the selected app as the default app for NFC. I use the Locale NFC Plugin to perform my tasker actions and i use the NFC Task Launcher to format my tags. Unfornately i can't have the NFC Task Launcher installed or i always get that stupid popup message asking me which app i want to use. So i basically have to format all my tags then uninstall NFC Task Launcher.

Actually, you can control it a bit. The author of the Locale NFC Plugin has a Google+ page that offers a few tips.

Basically, you can write a special URI/URL to the tag that will always launch the plugin, and not anything else.
