I have a Verizon Note 8, with latest updates, latest patch from Verizon dated 11.01.2019. Android 9.

I have read and researched and tried to get Smart Lock to work reliably.   Every morning I have to manually select a slightly new point from google maps and mark it as a safe place, and it for the day it works.   Is there a way to program tasker with GPS coordinates so the phone will not lock when I am home or in a specified area.   Seems like you could do it when connected to a particular WiFi network, but that doesn't appear to work.  So is a geofence of some sorts with GPS.   Or has android deprecated the ability to get this to work.  Android noob here.

João   I trried making this work.  I seemed to set it up alright except when I got to the auto apps part.  Configuring the ADB was confusing and now that I have the profile created on tasker I see  a message that says:

""Auto Tools action error.  No permission to hchange setting touch here or check.  I don't evidently know now to configure auto tools and secure settings.    Can you please help a noobie?   And I apologize for being so dense.

Open the AutoTools Secure Settings configuration and check the instructions in the info page (i) button on the top right :)
