You can launch any todo app (Your favorite one) with simple Tasker's profile contains Location context. If You want run that app at special todo list... ask developer is there way to send data to the app at launch and select some notebook (Evernote?)
If You want fire notify in special location, make couple of profiles (search here for this).

I wonder the same thing. Why Astrid was killed?

I just want a TODO app that would allow Tasker to add tasks to it (no email, no twitter, in an offline way).

Hey everyone, :)

Just trying to get an idea of what else is out there. So far, I've
been using Astrid with Tasker and am looking for alternatives.

Which tasks/todo app (with or without calendar) do you use, specially
with Tasker (mainly relying on Tasker to do things like location)? I
tried searching on the Android market for keywords like "Todo Tasker"
and even "Todo Locale", and couldn't find any app that does what
Astrid does with its Locale plugin.

Could you recommend anything similar please?

Thanks in advance!

It seems to be relatively common for people to make their own to do list functions in Tasker.  Most of what you need to know to get it to work is given in the Beginner's Guide Tasker articles at Pocketables:

Figuring out how to get everything working the exact way you want is probably the most difficult part.  Handling the arrays and text files is pretty straight forward.  I'm not horribly good with scenes, either, so mine doesn't look very pretty.

What's nice is you can use a widget making program like Minimalistic Text to display your lists.  I have the most useful list automatically displayed on my lock screen and I can choose three to have on one of my home screens.  I can also use any other Tasker context or event to show lists, add things to lists (very useful with AutoVoice and/or AutoRemote) or share lists between devices using a cloud service and AutoRemote or FolderSync.

As a bonus, I find that using locations that I get in Tasker (using AutoLocation, but the built in Tasker functions probably work well, too) work way better than what I got with Google Keep.  When I tried using a location based reminder for a list in Keep I always got the reminder when I left the store.  With my to do list I get it when I arrive or shortly after I enter the store.  Having it automatically put that list on my lock screen and giving me a persistent notification that opens a scene to manage the appropriate list is really nice, too.

It's also a very good project to use to learn more about how to use Tasker and some of its plugins.

Well indeed is a good project, but a TODO list these days is a complicated thing. There are subtasks, recurring tasks, schedule tasks, categories, priority. Its not just a simple text with a checkbox. Plus being able to manage on Android and PC or browser in a big screen. I can put huge effort to create my own todo in Tasker, but will never be good enough.

I have built a to-do list similar to the one on the pocketables website.

I have already redesigned it twice and my last edition is so far supreme to the others.

My to-do list uses tabs, which I can add infinitely many of, and then add infinitely many to-do entries under the tab.
I can add, delete, edit, swap, share, and I even added an undo action today.

I can select as many to-do entries at a time as I wish, and delete them all then. I can rearrange the tabs around and rename them if I like.

The sharing option I have allows me to select as many as I want and when shared will add a number before each entry practically making a auto list for what I share. Really good for sending someone a list of what to buy, groceries, etc...

I also added a notification system so when I get to work it'll pop-up with a notification I can press on and it'll automatically find my work list and display it on screen.

The opportunities are endless you just need to learn Tasker and you will be able to do more than you think!

Hey Jacob.

Your To Do List sounds pretty awesome. Any chance of seeing it in action?

Try SimpleTask. The developer provides examples of the intents used to enter tasks from tasker and opening the app with specific filters.

It is basically a front end to the todo.txt file so if your familiar with Unix and shell scripting you can also do that to pull info into tasker for notifications, etc.

I just recently started playing around with it. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles but it does the job.
