Im not sure if this is in the works or in a place that I haven't seen
yet but I think it would be great for the tasker community to create a
page where we can share profiles we have created with one another. I
think it would be a great learning tool for those who are still
learning about the program and also a great resource for new ideas and
a place to download profiles to utilize the Import one profile
feature. I have seen the tasker wiki but I dont think other users in
the tasker community can share their profiles there. I have a few
icons that I have made that i'd like to share with the community as
well. Any chance of an addition to the site like this? Thanks!

You can use Browse Profiles like that.

Why not ? You just need to register at the wiki and you can upload.
I agree that an upload straight from Tasker would be nice, it's on the
todo list.

There's an icon page at the wiki, you can edit that I think.

Oh, I didn't know you could do that on the wiki. I've had tasker for
about 3 weeks now and haven't seen any additions to the wiki sight so
I guess I assumed other users can't add profiles...when was the last
time someone posted one?

If you go to the wiki, click Profiles, there's a History link at the
bottom (you
may need to register).

Last updated 30 of march...its been a while I guess. Maybe not many
people know about this? Also, the wiki seems kinda complicated. I
haven't looked at it in too much detail but for the five or ten min I
did look around i couldn't figure out how to put up my own content. I
think something a little more user friendly would help...even just a
new board in the forums where users can post their tasks with the name
in the subject and then list all the steps and even include a profile
file to import into tasker. This would provide a place for people to
ask questions about various profiles as well...just a suggestion :)
thanks for all your hard work by the way. I love tasker!

Hi Pent,

a bit off-topic, but still Profiles-related - I found a bug while
exploring wiki content :)

Basically, Tasker throws exception if it is pointed to a file that
name contains white spaces. You can reproduce the problem on this
profile http://tasker.wikidot.com/keepmultiplebackupsoftaskerconfig

A.

Maybe you can, I can't :)

Could you drop me a log ?

If you click "download" and use "Tasker" as application for this -
does this work properly for you?

Yes, profile imports fine too.

Thanks for the log.

Ah, hold on, you said 'throws exception' before. I think you meant
'reports an error'. If it threw an exception it would crash, which is
what I was looking for.

Yeah , probably it failed for me too but I had warnings off.

I meant it throws an exception, reports an error and does not download
the file properly :-) Of course importing does not work for this
profile either.

Come on, 30th March is the update date for the front page, not the
profiles page. The "Profiles" page changes pretty often:
http://tasker.wikidot.com/profile-index (see History)

The wiki us just too complicated...not user friendly at all. Other
members of the group have also requested we come up with some other
means of sharing our profiles (search the forum for 'forum for sharing
profiles). I think a separate forum is ideal and could be a.tremendous
tool for us taskers.

Just as a FYI, there is a topic over at phandroid that sort of has
this approach going and it seems to be working quite well. People are
sharing ideas for tasks and explaining how to do them. Its allowed me
to find some new uses for the app. Also, there are some newbies there
asking questions and receiving help with the program. Especially with
the recent exposure from lifehacker.com i think that a new topic in
this forum where users can share ideas as well as ways to create
different profiles would be extremely beneficial.
