Hi guys, is it possible to get with tasker lat and lon from a point in Google maps... Something like share a place from gmaps and have it shared with tasker and recover from there its coordinates?
Thanks
Vincenzo

Have you searched? I don't think you need to search.

I would advise you to play around Tasker for sometime and check all the variables. In this case, I would suggest %LOC

Just go through this link for 10 minutes a day and you will be another Guru around here.

Wait... For what I know %LOC keeps actual position, isn't it?
Instead I need to open gmaps, look for, let's say, an address, put a marker on it, click the share position and have the share dialogue present me an application of mine where I can get lat and lon for that exact point

In this case, you will need to use AutoLocation which can lookup the possible coordinates for a given address.

Thanks but I need something more advanced, I really want coordinates directly from gmaps if possible. My idea is to select a place in gmaps and get coordinates even if I don't have a specific address

Can you make an example of sharing a point then share to the clipboard and paste it here to check if we can help :)

This is Google maps on my phone. The red marker is the one I selected with my finger. I want the exact coordinates of that point to be sent to a program I made

See, when you share a point like this (inside a town) it will have 2 elements

1. The address.
2. The shorted Google maps link.

So,

1st you need to bring the above text to Tasker (maybe via AutoShare).
2nd you need to split the text and have the address in one variable.
3rd. Use AutoLocation or (http://www.gpsvisualizer.com/geocode) to Geo-code the address into Coordinates.

I would love to make the example for you, but not now.

Thanks a lot, anyway if I do so I will not be able to build a standalone app because I need autoshare and autolocation...in your opinion is there a way to do without them ?

Yes, provided Google don't change their link structure, in this case use a profile to monitor the clipboard and triggered when the clipboard contains *http://goo.gl/maps/*

Share the point to the clipboard.

By the way, I'm not expert enough, maybe someone could drop an advice and solve your issue.

I came to the idea that I should use Google geocoding and http get.
Looking around I found a lot of talk about converting coordinates to street address or the contrary. But I want to convert, let's say http://goo.gl/maps/F1zLO to lat-lng
Any hint on this?

Oh... I just copied that link to the browser and it's been converted to this :
https://www.google.com/maps/place/43°19'39.8"N+11°58'17.6"E/@43.3283806,11.971544,18z?hl=it

I'm interested in that pair of values after the @, right?
So the question now is : how can I get the converted address starting with the original one?

I think Abd, gave you the solution 4 pasts ago. Starting worth auto share. ..... that seems the way to pull the data you want.
