I'm trying to implement the Tasker/Google connection shown in the video here.

The initial setup works perfectly, running My Cool Task. The problem comes when I try to add more tasks (Step 3, beginning at 1:00). When I do this, it responds to the second command, but runs the first action. For example, in the case shown in the video, whether you say "Run my cool task" or "Send my wife some love", it will always run the "cool task". I tried reversing the order to see what would happen, and then it would accept either voice command, but always run the "send wife love" task.

Very odd--it accepts both commands, but always runs the first task. I can see that it's a Google issue because the notification Google sends always contains that first task, so the Tasker side of things is working correctly. I assume it's a scripting issue. I see that the video is almost two years old, so perhaps something has changed.

I'm a total newbie on this scripting language. Can anyone help?

OK, cancel that. While I still have not figured out the scripting issue, I just discovered that the Google Automations (as opposed to the old Google Routines) can send notifications. These can easily be configured in the editor on the phone to send a specific notificaton upon a voice command. I can use that to pass the needed information to the Tasker profile. I've set up several automations to run various tasks, and they all work flawlessly.
