I'm trying to setup similar functionality as the Moto X to launch google now with voice, except I don't have a Moto X, so I thought I could use my Pebble instead. The ultimate goal of using it with AutoVoice to quickly add notes/todo's, plus the variety of other typical tasker functions.

What I can get working is that I can
  • Get PebbleTasker to launch the AutoVoice voice command with the screen off
  • Get PebbleTasker to launch Google Now when the screen is off
  • Launch AutoVoice voice command with the screen off, then immediately launch Google Now
I'd like to just directly launch Google Now when the screen is off, but have had no luck. What I struggle with is what this is a limitation of, if this is possible at all, or if I'd just have to work around the issue by using the third option listed above.

Do a Tasker popup with 1 second timeout then launch the Google Now voice recognition after that. That should work I think.

By the way, check out AutoPebble :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IR0qZlZiYnE
It has lots of new stuff since that video too: http://joaoapps.com/autopebble/changelog

Thanks, yeah that does work. Can't tell if it made that much of a difference, but was able to manually set it to lower than 1 second timeout as well. Quick enough that I don't normally see it by the time the screen is on.

It seems kind of strange there isn't a simple wakeup task or something. I also expected to see more people trying to get something like this to work now that AutoVoice integrates with the Google Now API. I assume it is probably limited if you were wanting to chain together a series of commands or something.

I did see AutoPebble just the other day when searching for others with this issue and signed up for the beta community. Looks like it's a pretty powerful platform.

Just came across this xposed module that allows initiating google now when the screen is locked: http://repo.xposed.info/module/com.mohammadag.securegooglevoicesearch

That's awesome! Thanks! Added to the FAQ: http://joaoapps.com/autovoice/faq/
