I was just wondering if it has been done yet. I'm going to look into it myself, but basically the command I want to give to my phone is, "Computer, take me to Golden Gate Park" or "Computer, get me directions to Golden Gate Park" (you know, some variation of that) and then Google Maps opens up and begins navigating me there from my current location.

I realize I can easily do this just by tapping the Google Now button, but it's kinda fun to make the task yourself. Plus I have plans to design something really awesome for my home automation system and this could come in handy.

What would be really nice is if we could still make inquires via Autovoice and have it do a Google Search. That would make this a whole lot easier.

Use app -> open map and change the mode to "navigate to".

There's an intent that allows you to go straight to navigation in Maps.  I use this one to do exactly what you're describing:

Navigate To (47)
A1: Send Intent [ Action:android.intent.action.VIEW Cat:None Mime Type: Data:google.navigation:q=%avcommnofilter Extra: Extra: Package: Class: Target:Activity ]

That's my entire task that's triggered from an AutoVoice profile with command "Navigate to".

You can also use a latitude and longitude separated by a comma instead of a place name after the "q=". It's nice if you have your own locations saved as latitudes and longitudes and want to navigate to one of them.

You can do the Google search trick again using AutoShare.  He added a method in AutoShare to import intents and searching Google is one of them.  If you go here:

You may be able to decode the intents and use them without AutoShare, but I already had AutoShare when he came out with it so I haven't bothered trying.
