According to the Google's Navigation Info...

"To adjust the volume of the voice output in Google Maps Navigation
(Beta), press the volume control on your device to make it louder or
softer. Note: This volume control is independent of your Android-
powered device's system volume setting when Google Maps Navigation
(Beta) is running in the foreground on your phone.

To mute voice output, press 'Menu' > 'Mute'. An icon will appear on
the screen while in tracking mode to show that you've muted voice
guidance. Press this icon to turn it back on."

I wish there was a way of setting up Tasker to un-mute the Navigation.
I always forget that I have to press the volume buttons once I open
the App.

I don't think there is a way to do what you want, but as an alternative you could have Tasker remind you to do it by using a Say action to give you an audible reminder.

It would be great if there was a parameter that you could pick up for
this.

When I'm on my motorbike with my bluetooth connected, I'd like to set
the Google Maps Nav a LOT quieter than when I'm in my car connected to
the car bluetooth - which doesn't play any media output from my Galaxy
S :(

Similarly, I note that when I'm connected to the BT on the bike, there
is a Bluetooth Call Volume, independent of the InCall volume %VOLC.

Is this something I need to raise as a feature request, Pent?

Cheers

I think I found that one, will test it later.

The navigation volume is not mentioned anywhere that I found.

I tried it with my BT speaker (that has a mic for phone calls too) and
it didn't change the volume. However, if I changed the volume on my
speaker, the BT call volume bar on the phone reflected it.

Does changing the volume on your phone change the volume on your
headset or whatever ? Maybe it's 'read only' on the phone side ?

The volume button on the phone only affects the call volume when
actually in a call, whilst connected to a bluetooth device (just tried
it on my laptop to test it).

But it's definitely changing the volume independent of %VOLC, as I
have a widget that displays that volume, and after changing the BT
volume (%VOLB ? ;) ) and checking it again, it hasn't changed.

OK, I accepted it was an independent number, just wanted some
confirmation that changing it on the phone actually had some effect.

It, thankfully, does... as it stops my ear drums being burst by my
shrill and shouty teenage daughter! The thing is that the bluetooth
device on my bike doesn't have a volume control of it's own, and with
the sat nav and media player running at levels I can control, I'd love
to be able to set the bt in-call volume whilst on the bike, but
differently to when connected to other bt devices/disconnected

Cheers, Pent
