Hi,

It seems there's some new way to clasify notifications inside app code, so for example persistent ones don't appear in lockscreen notification list, but they do in normal notification panel... Could you review this? In fact, it seems that persistent notifications appear "separated" by a line in notification panel... Please see attached screenshot of Light Flow persistent notification, that is acting right folllowing new Lollipop API.

Thanks a lot!

+1

Tasker notification should have 'ongoing' flag to not appear on lockscreen.

I hope dev will implement it, tasker notification on lockscreen is very annoying :/

I love Tasker. But couldn't agree more. I don't want it appearing as a notification all the time. It's very frustrating! Is a development coming soon to rectify this?

I've made a note to have a look when I get the update.

You don't need lollipop, just set this flag:

This is a good practice for tasker notification.

If you want I can test an apk.

It's been set as ongoing for years.

As far as I know the separator in the notification panel isn't to separate persistent notifications (Because Tasker is a persistent notification also and that's not below the separator).

The separator in the notification panel is to separate low priority/hidden notifications. When you close your notification bar you will notice that Light Flow's icon does not appear on your status bar because its classed as a hidden notification (Although persistent).

This has been the case for quite some time (at least Android 4.2.2 JB)

If you want Tasker to place a notification below the separator, try setting the notification priority to the lowest possible.

Scott

You're right. Lightflow doesn't show icon in statusbar, that's why it appears below the line. I would love Tasker let me choose the kind of persistent notification to use. I only want to be sure Android doesn't close Tasker, but I don't need to see the icon in statusbar.

Thanks Pent for taking this into account. I don't think it take much time for you to receive OTA.

Bye!

Having looked at this, the only relevant difference is that 5.0 lets you set a notification category. I've set it to 'service', though I think it probably defaults to that since it knows the notification comes from a service.

If the status bar icon is set transparent as described here:

http://tasker.dinglisch.net/userguide/en/faqs/faq-how.html#h

Then Tasker shows under the separator and doesn't appear on the lockscreen.

Great, thanks Pent, that does the job. I like having the icon in the statusbar to give me confirm that it's running, but as it still appears on the dropdown, this is good enough :)

That did the trick! So you just need to configure "transparent" icon in the dropdown menu... Then it disappears from lockscreen, and also from statusbar, although you still can see Tasker in notifications panel. Exactly what I wanted it to be.

Thanks a tone Pent! :)

PD: May be you could change a bit the settings so it's more clear... May be just include a new setting "don't show icon in statusbar" or something like that...

I know what you mean, but I'm a bit paranoid about settings-itis
(having settings for every tiny thing).

Maybe it's justified in this case. Will think about it.

Again thanks for taking my suggestion into account. :P
