Hi all, just tries to set up xiaomi redmi note 11s, first connected it
to desktop computer running chromiumOS and running debian in
container, ADB works but gives me "Java exception occured" when trying
to run these commands:
https://joaoapps.com/AutoApps/Help/Info/com.joaomgcd.join/android_10_read_logs.html

Then tries to run those cammand in windows with powershell (which
always worked with all other phones), and device is not seen from ADB
(restarted ADB server, rebooted both devices, used original cable,...)

Is this XIAOMI issue or am I just having no luck here? Any ideas what
else to try?

[SOLVED] In some xiaomi phones, there is an additional setting that
needs to be enabled additionally to USB Debugging, it is called "USB
Debugging (security settings)". This setting is greyed out by default,
but when you create Xiaomi account it becomes available.

Joao you may add the above sentence to the page
https://joaoapps.com/AutoApps/Help/Info/com.joaomgcd.join/android_10_read_logs.html

Also, one very annoying detail I've stumbled upon a few days ago (in the hardest possible way, of course !) that is useful to keep in mind : if like me you own just one SIM/phone line but are juggling between 2 (or more) Xiaomi (or POCO/Redmi) devices, in order to check this particular box, you HAVE to have your SIM inserted in the device on which you want to activate this setting !
And apparently, if you take the SIM out after that, it deactivates itself automatically... :( :@
So in practice, you need to keep your SIM in the device you need to have this setting enabled on for as long as you need this setting...
Huge PITA !
Thanks a lot, Xiaomi (NOT !!!)

EDIT : I stand corrected : once activated, the said additional setting stays checked after taking the SIM out.
Still, it's enough of a PITA to need to have your SIM in the device when you want to activate it (or to set up your Mi account on the device, for that matter.)

I am generally getting frustrated with android 11+ as they changed
permission API for storage access and half my favorite apps are unable
to edit or delete files.. I wonder if I should root the phone (redmi
note 11s) and put custom rom on it? lineage or pixel experience? Or
would simply adding permissions via ADB help - I ll try that first
(but the dev of that app says it wont help.. maybe if i use older
version of app then...?)
