I just got tasker and can't seem to figure out how to automate an alexa routine. I.e. I can go into alexa, then go to routines, then choose a routine, and the routine works fine..... however I can't figure out how to automate this with Tasker using a button trigger (i.e. a shortcut on my home screen)
Thank you.

There is no way to trigger an Alexa routine except through Alexa, unfortunately. What I do is recreate the effects of the routine manually from within Tasker. In other words, if the routine is to turn on a bunch of lights, then I manually turn those lights on direct from Tasker.

Noy as easy as one might think. Your best bet would be to do some googling on you own and when you come across some specific tasker questions then ask those here. IFTTT seems to be have a alexa service
And to get tasker to interact with IFTTT I have found the web hooks to be the most reliable (well as reliable as any of this "Automation" gets anyway.

unfortunately parts of my routine are locking doors with schlage encode locks. I have no idea how to make tasker go into the schlage locks app and lock each lock one by one. I do however have some widgets that can do some of the things I'd like tasker to do. How can I make tasker run a few widgets i have on my home screen?

Thanks Rich. I've spent hours upon hours researching this. Unfortunately while Amazon does connect with IFTTT it is only to set triggers with Alexa (i.e. if Alexa sees/hears/notices x, y, z).... it does NOT allow for Alexa actions to be taken.... (i.e. you can't set a button press within IFTTT to do anything on Alexa). I've found no workaround whatsoever.... Apilio can't make Alexa actions happen, Yonomi can't.

Ahh ok..
I have no experience with alexa However one work around I have made for Google assistant was to use another device ( a tablet that is always on but usually just displaying pics) It got complex but it served my needs and works well. The assistant allows you to start it in a text input mode. So I used auto input to paste my command into the text input field of the assistant. This would be awkward to use on my every day device but sending all the info to the tablet and letting the tablet input the commands worked well. I even scraped the screen with auto input so I could react to what the assistant says in case the action failed.
