Hi.

I'm trying to install Tasker trial on an ICS (4.0.3) tablet, but the
install fails with: "Package net.dinglisch.android.tasker requires
unavailable shared library com.google.android.maps; failing!" - I know
Tasker has a dependency on Google Maps, but I do have that installed
(version 6.5.1) .

Any ideas?

There seem to be two versions of maps floating around with different
package names. Where did you install the Google apps from ?

Hi.

I installed it from the Google Play market

It's the native maps api that is is missing.  The missing files are not supplied with Google Maps, they come with the device.

com.google.android.maps.xml
com.google.android.maps.jar

Me too. I uninstalled and reinstalled Google Maps, same message. I
also found a log message that it could not find the maps library.

Maybe consult your ROM developer.

I've only ever used Cyanogen 3rd party ROM. I used to just download
the Google apps package from the Cyanogen website, but I havn't
updated since Cyanogen 7.

I know that it's available from within Clockwork's RomManager, in the downloadable ROMs section.

Got it working.  I followed the steps at http://www.callum-macdonald.com/2011/02/06/missing-com-google-android-maps/ (but used the zipfile from http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Latest_Version/Google_Apps ).  Tasker installs and runs just fine after rebooting.

I believe the problem is that I'm running an alpha build of CM7, one that isn't delivered from the CM7 website (it's a build from some thread on XDA.)  While I was able to install and run the Google apps, I was still missing some framework bits that are typically installed with the rom.  I now realize this is probably not a standard installation by any stretch of the imagination.

Thanks!

Jeremy

Thanks for the feedback. That Google_Apps file is the one I meant.
