Autovoice and Android 11 - Seeting Autovoice as default asssistant turns off "hey google"

When I try to use Autovoice as my assistant on Android 11(latest Samsung update), it doesn't do what it used to.

1. if I first set "OK Google' on and then set Autovoice as my default voice assistant, "OK google" gets turn off is settings.

2. If I first set Autovoice on  as my assistant, then the "OK Google" switch is grayed out in settings.

In both cases, saying "Ok Google" does nothing.

Interestingly, in both cases, a long press of the "home" button brings up the Autovoice pop-up.

Has something is Android 11 interfered with AutoVoice as it has on several apps I have written or am I missing something or is there a new setup approach?

I've done searched but can not find anything definitive.
