Tasker can't see connected Bluetooth devices?

Background: Tasker 4.1u3m, Samsung Galaxy S4 running CM10.1.

I just purchased Tasker and am attempting to set up a profile that triggers when I connect to the Blackberry Music Gateway in my car. The steps I've taken:

  • New / State / Net / Bluetooth Connected
  • Name the State
  • Address: click the search icon and pick the BBMG from the BT device list
  • Add tasks
Unfortunately, once the BBMG connects to my phone, the profile never runs. The same holds true no matter what Bluetooth device I select; it connects, the OS can use it, but Tasker doesn't see it.

Thoughts?

Try blanking all the parameters in the BT connected state.

Work ?

And by 'profile never runs', do you mean the profile doesn't show up in Tasker's status bar pulldown
notification, or it does but the effects of the task aren't visible ?

The profile wouldn't show up in the pulldown. Of course, not 30 minutes after sending the original post it actually fired as normal on my drive to work. I can't say how long it took, because about 15 minutes into the commute this morning I looked down at my phone and noticed the icon change I had programmed into the Enter task.

I had deleted and recreated the profile, FWIW, but the tasks were still left over from my first attempt.

Don,

Profile deletion will not remove tasks. Tasks will also not delete if referenced in a profile. The process for this is, delete profile, delete task.

For connecting with Bluetooth and tasker, I suggest trying Bluetooth AutoConnect by Jakub Klos. That free app has an option to run a tasker task when connected to a Bluetooth device also. And it is super useful to manage connection priority on multiple devices.

I mention this because in my discussions with Jakub, it was determined there is a bug with Samsung devices and recognizing MAC address Bluetooth connections quickly, and a part of his app includes a work-around for this when connecting to a Bluetooth device.

Your Rom may have some limitations with tasker also :-(

So I noticed. That's fine - it saved me some work, since running the tasks manually worked perfectly.

Thanks for the tip. Luckily, subsequent car trips have seen Tasker recognize the device right away, but if that changes I've got the app on my wishlist.
