switch preferred_network

I have Samsung Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G935SF) with Android 8.0.0

Because the weak signal strength I'd like to switch preferred_network_mode on my phone from 9 (LTE/3G auto) to 1 (2G) inside a geofence (and switch back outside).

As recommended for global setting modification I set: adb shell pm grant net.dinglisch.android.taskerm android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS

I made a task (attached) to switch. It gives no error, but no switch occurs.

Would you tell me some detail why is it? Can this be done with a small app developed with sdk or is it uncertain way too?

I do this on every reboot.

Custom settings, preferred_network_mode = 20. It executes without error, not sure it helps though.

I'm in TMobile and sometimes calls go directly to voice mail. Was hoping this will fix it, hasn't.

Google preferred_network_mode for possible values.

different phones that get changed by verizon/samsung/ect..... they change things. that's why this works on some phones and not others.
