I set up a task to turn on my Roku and go to a specific Xfinity stream channel. I can call it from google home no problem.  When the alarm is dismissed, all the devices turn on and the task supposedly runs because google assistant says "opening tasker" but nothing from the task runs. I have searched for solutions and double-checked my assistant and tasker settings. I am totally perplexed why it works when called from google home (assistant) directly but won't run when using google assistant routine in google clock.

Thank you,

Hhmm, does that work if the screen is turned on and unlocked?

João,
It does not work as a google assistant routine in google clock (triggered by alarm dismissal) even if the screen is on and unlocked when the alarm goes off. If I call the task in Google assistant directly with "run my task in tasker" it runs perfectly. When the google routine is triggered in google alarm it says "opening tasker"  but nothing happens from the task. Very strange. Do you need me to send any logs?

Thanks,
Bob

Yeah, I think it's an Assistant limitation, sorry :( when you configure something time based it does not run on your phone directly apparently so it's not able to communicate with Tasker.

João,
Not so sure it's that simple as that. Google assistant runs tasker in routines no problem and the google alarm clock google assistant routine runs based on a dismissal of the alarm not the time of the alarm. Google alarm assistant routines do not work on my stock Xcover Pro with tasker (or even autovoice recognized profile). I just set up the same google alarm with google assistant routine on my older rooted Samsung Note 4 and it works perfectly.

Thanks,
Bob

What I meant was that routines that you set up in assistant that are based on time seem to not be compatible... Those ask you where you want to hear the response and they don't show the option of the response being given on the phone...

João,
I get that but it doesn't explain why the same exact google alarm google assistant routine on my older rooted Note 4 works flawlessly to activate the task directly. It could be related to the custom (HavocOs Android 10) or root on the older Samsung Note 4 vs Samsung stock android 11 on the Xcover Pro.   Anyways I used the older method using Autovoice recognized on the Xcover Pro to work around the problem and start the task.

Thanks,
Bob
