I use the Speak Sender task to speak the sender of SMS messages that I
receive using the TTS engine. There are a few senders that I receive
SMS messages from that are sent from email addresses not phone
numbers. An example is news alerts that I receive. The sender of the
news alerts is newsl...@foxnews.alerts.com. They have a 4 digit SMS
number of 6245. I have created a contact for this email address and
called it News Alerts in the Organization field. I have the email
address is the email field. I also have 6245 in the mobile field.

When I receive a SMS from this service my phone shows the sender of
the SMS message as New Alerts. However, Tasker speaks the entire
email address: newsletters at foxnews dot alerts dot com.

Is there any way around this?

Been a while since I did any string parsing in Tasker, but my first thought is to split the variable on "@" and, if necessary for what you want read, on "." Either that or IF sender = newsl...@foxnews.alerts.com then say "Whatever."
