possible to wake screen /// custom setting not working when screen i off?

Is there a way to wake my device with tasker, meaning to simply turn the screen on?

No need to unlock.

I think this can be done with the now defunct Secure Settings plugin, but I really don't want to install another plugin for 1 function?

I have a task that is triggered via connection to a BT device, within that task I call another taske with the 'Perform Task' action.

This task is a custom setting in which I change aod_mode to either 1 or 0 = on or off

But this task does not run when the device is asleep??

If I run it manually from the ui with the screen on / awake it works, and the aod mode changes, and the quick settings tile updates accordingly?

Add a pop up action. That's the old school way.

do you mean Alert > Popup?

This does not wake the screen

Can anyone confirm if custom settings work / should work with the device asleep / screen off?

AutoInput has a turn screen on option, but google seems to want to block this happening.

Certain settings in android do need screen on to change - always on display is one of the ones that need screen on to change.

Hmmm, it used to turn on the screen before we had to use third party plugins. The caveot is you couldn't have phone locked.

Damn, that's frustrating.

Do you know of any method to wake the screen...I don't want another plugin for one action only.

If your phone is rooted. You can use a shell command. Input keyevent 26. (make sure to check the "use root" box) This should turn on the screen when it is off. And will turn the screen off if it is on.

The Turn On screen action is now available in Tasker. Can you try that?
