I have an HTC Nexus One, rooted running blackrose, clockworkmod recovery, and AOKP on Jellybean 4.2.2. because i haven't found a solution to the internal memory problem, I have a very limited amount of room for other apps, and Tasker is the only one installed. with that said, is it possible to use scenes, widgets, and (lots of) variables to create a custom Tasker "launcher" (much to the effect of NOVA, or Apex) to use? I'm not the best with Tasker, but I do understand most of what everything does inside it, just not what is possible to do with it...

what I have done:

created 7 widgets that open up "folders" (can't place anything in them), and act the way I want. (tap an arrow, opens up the 'folder', tap the same arrow, closes it/tap another arrow destroys scene, opens up the other 'folder'/ tap darkened area that is not an arrow destroy scene and 'goes home'.) that's as far as I have gotten, and I'm stuck. any help?

creating a custom launcher with Tasker seems like an exciting project :)
I think a lot will be possible except for widgets, I don't know of any way to load a widget into a Scene..
inside the folders you could add an Image Element with as icon the icon of an app and as Action to launch said app..

Its possible to make your own launcher kind of obviously there's things that just can't be done, but if your using Next launcher or Go Launcher as your default launcher (obviously you still need a home launcher even if you make your own) you will find its impossible to add a shortcut task that opens your app drawer from a scene so you would need to make something that lists all your apps and tapping an item in the list launches that app.Hope this makes sense. If not search here for tasker and Next Launcher or Go Launcher and read my post. Or alternatively don't use the above launchers as default.

If you look at the go launcher program Touch it can give you an idea of what can be done easily with tasker. I made an inconspicuous icon that sits on the right side of my screen.if you touch it a main menu opens vertically on the right border of the screen. One option on it is favorite apps. Touch that and the main menu is replaced with a favorite apps menu. I also used a program called Draweroid on my main menu to give access to an app drawer. Draweroid is configured to look just like the rest of my launcher system.

Other functions are easy to incorporate, such as a choice on the main menu for settings. One of the choices on the settings menu opens an extensive settings scene I made.

This system is multitasking because the inconspicuous launch icon is persistent. It overlays in all programs so my launcher can be accessed anywhere.

The whole thing really only took a couple hours to set up. I'm no tasker guru, so everything is pretty simple to do. I use go launcher and was able to reduce it to a single home screen.

Hope this gives you some ideas.
