I have the forwarding working.  Here are my settings:

Added Context

Event - (Phone) - Received Text (Type - Any, Sender - Any Contact, Content - Blank)

Added Task and Named it (SMS Forward)

Added Action

(Phone) - Send SMS

Entered the destination number in the 'Number' field.

In 'Message' added: %SMSRB

And I selected to "Store in messaging app"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My only issue is when I receive the txt on the other phone it doesn't show the specific contact that sent it on the original phone...it only shows my originating device number?  So I have no clue who the text is from specifically it just shows my number.

And my other question is I assume since I selected (Type - Any) in the Context that this will work for SMS and MMS?  I have only tried SMS and it does forward other than the issue above.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Wouldn't you expect an SMS sent from your originating device to show that number?  You'll have to include the name or number yourself (using %SMSRN or similar).

Matt-

I apologize for my ignorance as I am a newbie at using the Tasker app.  I guess I should have phrased my posting differently like inquiring how exactly you get the text to show who its from on the secondary phone.  So if I am understanding correctly, all I would have to do is enter the value %SMSRN in the contact field?  Or where exactly do I put this variable?  Again, sorry for the stupid questions.  Thanks for your assistance.

It would have to be as part of the message ...
