Hi,

I am a new user just getting started with tasker, so apologies if I ask a stupid question.

I have currently 2 profiles, one triggered by "Display On", the other by "Display Off". When these events occur, a timestamp is written to a file.

The functionality work, tasker does it's thing, however there is an annoyance:

I get a notification from tasker saying "No active profiles" that I cannot seem to get rid of and that does not make any sense to me (I see timestamps in the file, so there ARE active profiles).

What is this and how can I get rid of it?

Many thanks!

Well, your profiles are active on event only, that means a couple of milliseconds, when the switches on and off. When the screen is turned on (or off), the profiles are of course inactive, as the event has passed - hence the notification text, based on your statement, that these two profiles are the only ones you have.

BTW, notification is permanent, but you can disable it (depending on Android version) in your phones settings: Settings->Apps->Tasker->Notifications->Monitor (turn it to off).

Aha, interesting.

For my intuition even my profiles would be "active" simply because tasker would have to check all the time whether or not the event that triggers them actually occured, but probably this is not how tasker thinks about it...

So basically all profiles that are based on events are "inactive" as long as the event does not occur that thus cause this notification?

What would then be an example of an "active" profile? One that depends also on some time logic?

Well, as I said before, notification is permanent - when no profiles are active, it states: "No active profiles", otherwise it states, how many of them (if there's only a small number it also states which ones) are currently active.
And yes, profile is active for a longer period if it depends on a timespan (from/to), but also if it depends on state - f.e. WiFi Connected, Power AC, Battery level;...
