Tasker Wifi Scan

Dear Tasker users,

I'm stubbornly trying to resolve the Wi-Fi Near tasker issue.

I've created an easy activity that, when a generic Wifi (no parameters) is near, pops-up the info contained in the %WIFII variable.

This should work every time the smartphone finds a new WiFi, i.e. every time the phone executes a WiFi scanning procedure.

It seems to work, instead, only when the smartphone is unlocked and apparently when tasker is running.

I controlled the timings in the preferences but the Service Check Milliseconds is 1500 (when display is on), Wifi Scan Seconds are 120, All checks (when display is off) are 240 seconds.

My idea is that the activity works only when the phone finds a NEW WiFi and tasker is running.

Could anyone help me?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 (G900F) with Android 6.0.1

Note that it if the state is already active when a new AP is detected, it won't
run the task again. Tasks only run once when the profile first activates.

It seems to work even if I don't understand exactly which is the time period between each Wifi scan (it should be 240secs but apparently is longer).

I set in my function that, when WiFi scanning is active, if %WIFII matches *CONNECTION* the wifi is enabled and mobile data is set to off. I noticed however that the "known wifi" on my device are sometimes labeled as <<SCAN>> instead of <<CONNECTION>>.

Do you know why?

Dear Pent,

I spent some time trying to understand your sentence about the activation of the tasker profile.

I inserted in my activity a raw in which I disable the profile in order to not be active for the new WiFi.

It does not seem to work. It seems that it works only when I turn on the profile or when I start tasker.

I only need an easy profile that turn on wifi and turn off mobile data and viceversa when a new wifi is detected or not.

I obviously need that the task works when the phone is locked.
