Anyone running Android 4.3+ has probably read about App Ops - a hidden feature in Android that allows selectively denying permissions to an app - and the App Ops launchers that have appeared in the Play Store.  If you're interested, but leery of using one of these launchers, you can make your own App Ops launcher using Tasker.

App Ops (346)
A1: Load App [ App:App ops Data: Exclude From Recent Apps:Off ]

Just create this task (or download the attached file), and then add a Task shortcut to your home screen than launches the task.

Nice one, works great! My phone hasn't updated yet, but I picked up the new Nexus 7 tablet yesterday and had read about App Ops but hadn't gotten around to checking it out until now.

Thanks for the effort UM!
Need to make some time to check this feature on my Nexus 7 :-)

UncleMike, thanks for the tip.

I poked around and found this might useful too

NotificationHistory (36)
A1: Load App [ App:Notifications Data: Exclude From Recent Apps:Off ]

It brings up history list of notification messages.

Cool!  This information in that list is almost exactly what I need access to to get my Notification Reminder profiles working as it used to, but without root.  If only I could get that info into Tasker.

Thanks!

Is it the notification text (not title) that you need access to? I have an unrooted 4.3 and using the Notification Event in Tasker I can get at the notification title and app name just fine.

That part of my profiles is working fine.  The part that requires root is checking to see what notifications are still active in the notification shade.  With root I was able to accomplish this by running a script 'dumpsys notification', and parsing the output, but this requires root.  My temporary solution was to revert to my pre-ICS method of using the Notification Click event as a context to know when that notification disappeared, but this event is broken in the current version of Tasker when using Android 4.3.  The Notification Click method was always problematic with Gmail, since reading a message on your desktop would clear the notification on Android without any user interaction, and will become more so now that Calendar has notification sync across devices, allowing you to clear a notification on one device and have it automatically cleared on others too.

From what I have read, a user can prevent this by selecting which applications are allowed to 'read' notifications by other apps.
