did you have any success with this? I'd be interested in some interaction with Spotify as well,

like setting it to offline when not connected to WIFI and things like that...

I do this with the application "Media Utilities" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.batescorp.notificationmediacontrols.alpha

When BT connection i open spotify and hit play. It works 98% of the time :)

I use Media Utilities too and it works most of the time.  I do get an occasional "no tracks in playlist" when pressing "next" or that it doesn't auto play, but most of the time it works fine.  I use the BT auto connect app to enable BT when my phone is connected to power, Tasker then enters the car profile on power + BT connected to car.  One of the tasks is to "smart play" Media Utilities.  On exit (power unplugged) Media Utilities "smart stop" and then I exit the Spotify app.

For some reason, my BT connection drops one in awhile, but it's unrelated to Media Utilities/Spotify.

It would be nice if Spotify had a plugin but MU works quite well for a "beta" app.

Maybe this profile could help a little, it asks wether it should open an app, when headphones or earbuds are inserted.

Because I haven't rooted my phone, I had to do a workaround which you can drop if you want to (A8-9)

Feature request would be different volumes for different Bluetooth. My car unit i always want it maxed and i adjust volume on my cars head unit but my gym headphones are purely off of the phone sounds so i need it about half way.
