The release notes for the newly released version gives this as a new
feature (which seems potentially very powerful).

Is there any documentation or examples?

There are some notes with the event (UI / Button Widget Clicked),
but it should be fairly self-explanatory.

It will detect any clicks unless you change one of the parameters to
restrict it in some way.

Maybe it is because I am a tasker newbie, but it does not seem self-
explanatory to me.

I do not see anywhere to specify which app the button is being clicked
in.

Has anyone got a simple example?

Sorry :-)

In the profile list, just click on the event, click Add Context, App
and
select the app(s) you want to limit the button click detection to.

So:
App: XXX
Event: Button Widget Click
Task: Alert / Vibrate

Start with that first, then narrow it down.

Thanks.
I managed to set up an example (eventually) to see how it worked.

Great.

It's a bit fiddly, the use is limited. Sometimes things aren't really
buttons, but images with no 'text' label (like on the calculator app).

Can you post your example please? I'd like to learn more about this.

i am confused here as well... does the "button widget clicked" have to work with an app?

No.  The "Button Widget Clicked" event does not include any parameters to specify an app.  I'm using it to detect pressing either "Dismiss all" or "Snooze all" when clearing a calendar event notification.  I have it specified as follows:

Priority: Normal
Label: Dismiss all/Snooze all
Button Type: Simple
Click Length: Any
New Button State: Any
