Hi

If you open the "People" application (android's built-in Contacts application),
and press Menu: Import/Export,
then select "from Phone",
then select "to Phone Storage",
you will cause the People app to generate a file called 00001.vcf,
which contains an export of your contacts.

You can then use this file in the future, to restore back all your contacts.
(th eprocess will be similar to what I wrote here, just Import, from Phone Storage to Phone)

My question:

How can I do what I just did now manually, with Tasker?

So I can have a Tasker Task do this automatically every 3 days for example..

Thank you very much

I am just curious about one thing:

When I go to the Input Actions category, I see this:

As can be seen, the Button, Dpad, and Type actions are red, because my device is not rooted.

So If AutoInput can do it without Root, why can't Tasker too?

Oh

There seems to be 1 problem:
It requires Android 4.3 and up, and I have Androdi 4.2.1..

Any other way I can export my contacts to a file?

Sync them with Google...and get them from there? Or find another app to export them to a file, maybe you can start that app from a Tasker action... Sorry, no amazing solutions, lol :)

I would not like to sync anything to Google..

An app to export to a file would be nice.. especially if it can be run via a command line..
