Hello Group Members,

Has anyone been able to successfully use a third party plug-in with Tasker to successfully send emails out of the Tasker (i.e. email backup.xml file). Ever since I upgraded to the new version of Tasker I have been unable to successfully send emails out of Tasker using third party plug-in (that worked in the past) and with SL4 no longer viable it appears that our options are limited; if any.

Regards,

Rex

MailTask works well. There are others.

Which plug-in were you trying to use?

I am using MailTask and that does not work. I also used SendSilenMail and that also does not work despite both being configured.

The device is a Samsung Galaxy S8+ running Android OS 8.1.

I just used MailTask to send an email in the current Tasker Beta, from a Galaxy S9 Plus on Android 8.0 and it worked. I include an attachment on the email. There may be a size limit on the attached file, because when I sent a larger file it did not work. I selected a smaller file and it worked.

The one that worked was about 37k. The one that did not was about 430k. I did not try anything in between.

I'm using MailTask too and it works for me. Did you check the logs after the task execution?

It does not seem to work for me. It appears that ever since I moved to a new device and new version of OS and Tasker none of the email plug-in work. Quite a number of my Profiles that email files via Tasker stopped working and no matter what I have tried I am not getting any closer to a solution.

It's clear that it's something related to your phone. Did you see the logs? Anything strange?

Hello Mike,

Silly question. How do I obtain/enable the logs?

Open the app and click on "logs" after the action is executed, really simple.

What about MailTask logs?

Hello Mike,

For some odd reason it now works; somewhat. I am getting the emails with 2 of three attachments. In addition, the Task does not kick off automatically; I have to manually kick it off. But it appears to be working now than it did in the past.

Android 7.0 with Tasker 5.1 and MailTask Plugin (actual).

Thank frank

MailTask works fine on my Galaxy S9 with Oreo. I used it to send mail this morning.

The fact that muliple mail plug-ins are having this trouble points to an authorization problem on Google's end.

I know now why it didnt work: I used email addresses (as variables) for the to, cc and bcc fields in the general format:

Name Surname <maila...@example.org>

This does not work. MailTask needs just the email address, and a second one is separated with an empty space.
So the Name Surname is interpreted as two (not working) email addresses. The "<" at the beginning of the email is destroying the email and it is ignored.
It is neither possible to put the name in " signs. "Name Surname" ... wont work at all.

I asked the developer and he confirms, that it is not possible, only the plain email is accepted.

So it works now, not exactly as I wish but enoughly :)

Thank

frank
