Can Tasker Add a Button (or Buttons) to the Navigation Bar?

Hi


Android's "Navigation Bar" is the black bar on the bottom,
that contains the "Back", "Home", and "Current Apps" buttons.

It has more space in it that can be used,
can Tasker add a button or buttons to it?

Yes, the latest betas of Tasker can modify the navigation bar for some devices.

It depends on the user's Device brand and model, and not on the user's OS Version?
My device is Sony Xperia X, will it be able to change the navigation bar on it?

• It depends on the Model.
• You cannot add buttons as of now, but you can replace the functioning of the left, center and right nav butttons with something else.
• You need to grant write secure settings permission for it to work.
• Make sure you read it's help before you apply changes as it can put you in a considerable amount of trouble if gone wrong.

Buttons can be added.. I have added a couple on my Note 9 and they can be used to run a task also.

Then please let me know which action you've used there. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong one. And does it require root?

It does not require root. You can add multiple buttons for each of the left, center, and right buttons. So say for the right button you can hit the magnifying button and select right from the list. Then hit the magnifying button again and select custom from the list. There are a bunch of options there for selecting different apps and stuff there. When you select another button, it will show two buttons right setting and the nav bar preview will show the buttons added. Once you run the task, it will set the nav bar. I've added the calculator button for example and added the Android settings button to the right setting.

This is beautiful..
And as can be seen, there's room for 4 more buttons, in addition to the 3 buttons that exist.

So it's now in beta? hopefully it will come out soon..

You can actually add as many buttons as you want :D Check out all the buttons I added :P All of those little icons are functional buttons!
