The icon is gone. It was there when I installed Tasker a few days ago (I’m new to Tasker) but now it never appears.

I can open the UI and work on my one Profile and even then no status bar icon.

Is this an indication that Tasker isn’t running? Might this be the reason I’m having no success with my Profile? (I hope so…) (c;

In Tasker’s Preferences I’ve got “Run In Foreground” checked and a “Notification Icon” selected.

Is this normal? Or…?

Fix?

Thanks,
Dave

“Show notifications” is checked.

I want to uninstall Tasker and reinstall it, but in Google Play the button says “Deactivate” rather than “Uninstall”.

When I click on it I see this: “This app is a device administrator and must be deactivated before uninstalling.” How do I do that?

Thanks,
Dave

OK Tasker reinstalled. Icon now in status bar after restarting the phone.

But when I check under Notifications it says “No active profiles”. I have only one profile and it’s switch is “On”.

It’s a real simple Profile, about as simple as it gets: when an application is launched, it launches a plugin (AutoVoice). But it’s not launching when I run the app.

So where might I look for a solution?

Thanks,
Dave

That means 'enabled' (verifiable by checking %PENABLED) not 'active' (which is %PACTIVE).

You're in the right place :-)

Post a description of what you're having trouble with.

To export a profile/task as description:

1) Disable beginner mode.
Go to menu > preferences > UI tab > Beginner mode and uncheck it.

2) A profile/task must be named to export
Long press on the profile that you want to name and a menu bar should appear at the top of the screen.
Select the "A" icon to open a dialog to name the profile.
Note: You can change tasker's profile creation sequence to request a profile name when creating a profile with:
menu > preferences > UI > scroll down to Main Screen section and find 'Ask For New Profile Name' and check it.

For tasks in a scene, you can apply a named task in an element task by selecting the desired element and label, then the round arrow on lower left corner of the action edit screen.

3) Post the Tasker description of the profile or task that you are having trouble with.
To do that you long press on the profile name (or task name) and then go to menu > export > description to clipboard (don't select export XML). Then paste the clipboard contexts into a post.

As a Tasker beginner, I had the same problem.  The profiles each say "On" but...  The Tasker icon in the upper-left-hand corner needs to be "on."  If it's gray, it's off.  Turn it on with a long press.

Art,

Thanks for your post. I've been using Tasker for over a year now and recently had problems with my profiles not activating. Most of my profiles are simple wifi triggers. I had no idea Tasker could be disabled with a long press as you described. That was my problem. I have no idea how it was disabled in the first place. Thanks.

Clint
