I get negative results with many nfc tags, sometimes a message that "tag is not writable" (although my profile is checking its ID only), with other tags google play link to trigger app launches, and with some credit cards it actually works? Is there a solution to make all nfc tags work inside tasker without trigger app?

Can you please export your profile's description (not xml) so I can take a look? Long-click the profile in Tasker->export description Thanks in advance

Hmm, that message should not appear... Does it always appear for you when you scan a specific card?

I am testing NFC triggering in tasker with A) small circular stickers form aliexpress, big plastic white NFC cards from aliexpress (size of credit card), and C) real credit cards, some still functional, some outdated. Currently I try to use tasker only, although I have seen many plugins such as nfc starter and some standalone apps like "trigger" (which works ok, but i prefer to use tasker alone if possible).

After scanning option A with tasker alone I get: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Xe3wswpqTB6ojZta6 then I click (tap actually) "yes" and i get: https://photos.app.goo.gl/EZMJRDC7JLQh3CcN9

After scanning option B my phone opens gplay link to "Trigger - Task Launcher" app (ok this tag was probably formatted in trigger before I assume)

After scanning option B blank new card I get: https://photos.app.goo.gl/YvaGRqdWrrKGyvuA7 after clicking OK nothing happens

After scanning a credit cards (both type) I get same response as in scenario A.

This testing was done on two identical phones LG Q6 both running stock rom Android 8 fully updated (non rooted).

So, to trigger profiles by NFC I assume, the card can be formatted with ID only (without content) - correct? With which app do you suggest to format NFC tags then?

tnx

Ok, try this with card B:
  • Create a task and add the NFC Tag action
  • Add some text to write to the card, something like "test"
  • Scan the card
  • While the card is still in proximity run the Tasker action to write to the card
  • Try to use it in Tasker in an event condition
Does that work for you?

In your second step - writing "test" - where do I do that? These are my options in NFC tag action: https://photos.app.goo.gl/wNB3yQZtrouEGfpw6

if i choose "payload to write" i get this https://photos.app.goo.gl/xhEBLMpJ4nX37bfPA

or this: https://photos.app.goo.gl/heYndFyaPCszdjY96 depending how fast i approach nfc tag with phone

or should i do all those steps? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMbj7bRoSKI

The idea is you put the tag near your phone, accept that dialog's warning and while the tag is still near, use the NFC Tag action just as you configured it :)

solved: NFC tags need to be written by the same phone (with anything, and only once) to be able to trigger profiles directly in tasker. I was unable to do such writing with tasker but it worked with 3rd party app nfc tools (on google play). After writing short text to the card, tasker was able to respond to that NFC tag by ID and 3rd party app trigger (search on google play) is no longer required as all my automation is now inside tasker where i want it.
