OK, I feel really stupid asking this but is there some reason why I can't use a popup to display the contents of a variable?

For example, I selected Alert/Popup and put %PACTIVE in the text field. When the popup displays I just get an empty blue box. I know I've done this before many versions ago, so what am I doing wrong?

For some reason the standard popup is pretty flaky. I created a custom popup layout a long time ago and it has been working fine ever since. Maybe give that a try.

Any active, named profiles at the time ?

Try %TIMES instead.

Yes, there were active profiles. I just tried %TIMES and it doesn't work either.

Does normal text display ?

Have you modified the Popup scene in the scenes tab ?

No. Text does display when I put it in the title field. So then I added %TIMES to the title and it only displayed my text.

>>Have you modified the Popup scene in the scenes tab ?

Not knowingly. I have never used scenes so I don't know the first thing about them.

Anyway, try deleting the Popup scene in the scenes tab.

No, don't bother, if it's showing normal text then that's not the problem.

It's a mystery to me. Works fine when I test it...

Which Tasker version ?

Stock Verizon GS3, Android 4.1.2, Tasker 4.0u1m

I have Tasker on 2 other devices, another GS3 and a Nexus tablet. I will try it on them and report back,

On my wife's GS3, it works fine. She has a separate Tasker license and the only difference between her GS3 and mine is that her's is a 16GB and mine is a 32GB. On my Nexus 10 tablet, I get the same results as I do on my GS3. The title will display but nothing else, not even text.
Weird...

Do you think it's possible that the color of the text is the same blue as the box and I just can't see it? I looked for any kind of text color option but couldn't find one. Although, I don't mess with the preferences much, I even tried resetting them to default.

Now that I think about it, that can't be it be it because I tried setting a different background image.

Mystery solved. Pent suggested that I might have an old version of the popup scene. Since I never knowingly use scenes, I didn't know there was one. I found the offending popup scenes and deleted them. The next time I ran the popup task, it created a new one. They weren't in the scene tab of my current project but I eventually found them in the home project scenes tab.
