Ok so for some reason I don't hear my GS3 ring when listening to music with a Bluetooth speaker. I have soundabout but it's failing so I want to use Tasker, should be easy.

I've tried three ways now, all fail
Method 1
Context: Bluetooth connected (state) + Phone Ringing (event)
Task: (tried both the say command and play music call, on all stream settings (media, notification, ect)

Method 2
Context:Bluetooth connected (state) + call incoming (state)
Task: same

Method 3 was both the event and state of incoming call and phone ringing.

It seems to work, only after the caller hangs up.

Anyone know what may be happening?

Thanks

This is likely an issue with you Bluetooth speaker.

Tasker can transmit sounds over various channels (call, notification, media, etc) normally a bluetooth device will receive these channels, however when the phone is ringing things change. Most Bluetooth devices don't play ANY of the channels while the phone is ringing, they usually just play their own ringtone, so this becomes an issue for other profiles as well (saying the name of the caller for instance). It sounds like your speaker isn't playing it's built in ringtone when the phone is ringing.

Tasker probably won't be able to help you here.

Huh, interesting. So the speaker can sense the phone call? Ahhh Waite. I forgot to mention. I'm using an adaptor. The logitech one at work, and altec I think at home. The speaker(s) themselves are dumb and plug into the adaptors. I would imagine this changes things a little. Sorry for that omission

Is the adapter Bluetooth?

Yeah. It receives the BT signal and passes the sound to the speaker via cord

Then it probably doesn't make any difference as communication with the phone is the same.

Yeah kinda what I thought.

So does anyone have an idea of what's stopping the text or song from being played?

More likely your adapter defaults to HSP Bluetooth profile during a phone ringing event.

They're all different that way :-(
