Are there variables planned for Calendar Entries?

%CALENDAR
%CALDISCP

failing that, are there ways to capture the entries description?

I would like to create a profile that looks for *birthday* in the
title, (which i have done) and send an SMS to the number listed in the
description field.

Profile: Birthday Text
Context: State-> Calendar Entry
title *Birthday*

Task:??? Send SMS to %CALDISCP

That would be quite cool ;-)

yeah,

Making SMS for birthdays anniversarys, ...

would be an easy thing to due with one profile.

Also, it could use it for alarms, reminders, ....

Lots of cool features

How would I handle multiple overlapping calendar entries that
potentially
start and/or end at the same time i.e. when would the variables be
set ?

Yes, that could be a complicated problem, especially with several
calendars. However, that is just the nature of the beast.

to start (and I know this is not ideal for all situations), you could
populate fields that being trapped.

Meaning:
1.) if no profile is looking for Calendar Events, do nothing.
2.) if a profile is looking for *birthday* or *meeting* in the title
populate the variables with that calendar entry
(and ignore subsequent entries that do not match a profile)
%CALENDAR
%CALTITLE
%CALLOC
.
.
%CALDISCP
3.) Users would be responsible for copying this data into user
variables is they wanted to keep it.

Perhaps you could create arraylist that contains the last couple
events, say 4 or 5?

Is there any chance for Calendar Variables in the next version?

How about a way to put the Calendar Fields into user variables?

After all, you have a State that allows you to search/match off of
the Calendar Entry based on, Title, Location, Description, Calendar

That's just the same as doing the built-in calendar variables.

Yes, but that code is designed around 'is there a match, yes/no' not
'what are the (possibly multiple) matching calendar entry details'

I understand, i hope you are planning on changing this relatively
soon.

Tasker is a game changing app, allows for a lot of control over the
phone's features.

but that is still only me interfacing with the phone.

The smart phone can't really interface with me until it can use and
understand the details in the Calendar, the possibility of both are
endless.

That could be left to the user.

I would like support for this kind of variable, too. Especially the
location field for automatic driving instructions. :-)

I know and it is on the todo list, but I'm distracted by other awesome
stuff
ATM.

I guess the only way out of this dilemma is to decrease the time-to-
productivity on your Replicate-Pent action. :-)

I haven't been able to find any references of this in the history or the todo list. Has this, and other calendar event related variables, been implemented?

This is something I would very much like to see implemented as well. I have a profile that activates for work based on calendar entries, and I would like to create a popup that displays the description so I know what I have to do that day. I would need a variable that is equal to the description of a specific event name in a specific calendar, or NULL if the description is empty.
