As its most unlikely that a variable for music artist will ever be added to Tasker, does anyone know if I can get this from Power amp to input into Tasker as a variable?

Many thanks

The way I do it is from the notification that occurs when the music starts or the song changes (using a notification event context). You might need to enable those notifications in the power amp preferences. A %MARTIST would really be useful to go along with %MTRACK.

Hi, I'm new to tasker and I'm having trouble setting up the method you're talking about, could you break it down into simple steps for me please? I just want to use the notification placed by Shuttle Music Player to get the name of the artist!

Thanks

With Tasker 4.2u3 you can listen for the poweramp track changed broadcast )action
com.maxmpz.audioplayer.TRACK_CHANGED) with the Intent Received event. Look at %track in the corresponding task, it has all the details.

Forgive me for being a total moron and not understanding like... super basic coding.

My question is how to return only part of that bundle of information that comes from %track. for example only the "path".

I use the PowerAmp intent in my Digital Dash project.

My write-up has some code that might help.  You can find it here:

Great info, thanks. I see they also have an album art changed action, but I can't figure out how to get the aaPath into a variable.

Could you please point me in the right direction?

Thanks
